Product Description
AUGMENTIN should be used in accordance with local official antibiotic prescribing guidelines and local sensitivity information. AUGMENTIN 12H in suspension for oral administration twice a day, is indicated in the short-term treatment of bacterial infections when they are caused by beta-lactamase-producing strains resistant to Amoxicillin, in the following sites. In other situations, the use of Amoxicillin alone should be considered: Upper respiratory tract infections (including ears, nose and throat) eg. eg: recurrent tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media. Lower respiratory tract infections, eg. eg: acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, lobar pneumonia and bronchopneumonia. Genito-urinary tract infections, eg. eg: cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis. Skin and soft tissue infections, eg. eg: cellulite, animal bites. Dental infections, eg. eg: severe dentoalveolar abscess with diffuse cellulitis. Sensitivity to AUGMENTIN 12H will show variation with respect to geography and time (for more information, see Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics). Local sensitivity information should be consulted whenever available, and where necessary microbiological sampling and sensitivity testing should be carried out. Mixed infections caused both by microorganisms sensitive to Amoxicillin, and by microorganisms producing β-lactamases that exhibit sensitivity to the AUGMENTIN formulation, can be treated with AUGMENTIN 12H Pediatric Suspension (228.5 mg / 5 mL) and Junior (457 mg / 5 ml). ). No other beta-lactamase-resistant antibiotics are required to treat these infections.
