Side effects, if they occur, are generally noted at the beginning of therapy and usually disappear with discontinuation of therapy or adjustment of dosage. The most common side effect with alprazolam was drowsiness. Less common effects were: light-headedness, blurred vision, incoordination, gastrointestinal symptoms, autonomic manifestations, headache, depression, insomnia, fear, weight changes and memory disturbances/amnesia. As with other benzodiazepines, paradoxical reactions such as stimulation, agitation, difficulty in concentration, confusion, hallucinations or other behavioural effects may occur. PRECAUTIONS REGARDING EFFECTS ON CARCINOGENESIS, MUTAGENESIS, TERATOGENESIS AND FERTILITY: No significant toxic effects have been reported to date.

Product Description

“Anxiolytic”. ALPRAZOLAM is indicated simultaneously in the acute treatment of panic attacks (panic attacks with agoraphobia or panic attack). ALPRAZOLAM is also indicated in the chronic treatment of generalized anxiety, anxiety with symptoms of depression and the prevention of panic attacks (panic attacks). The symptoms of anxiety states may include: anxiety, tension, fears, apprehension, tiredness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, insomnia and/or autonomic hyperactivity, resulting in a wide variety of somatic symptoms. ALPRAZOLAM is also indicated in the treatment of simple anxiety states and/or associated with other conditions such as: chronic phase of alcohol and other depressant withdrawal, organic or functional conditions, particularly certain gastrointestinal and cardiovascular disorders and dermatological conditions.
